Default The Poker For Free "rail project"

Fellas,

I am going to do something I haven't done before! This month I will play exclusively at CakePoker and you can follow my game!

My user name there is PokerForFree (SURPRISE!) and you will find me solely on the $10+$0.80 NLH Double-up games with 10 players.

I have started playing there with about $13, now have a little over $60 and my goal is to earn at least $10 per day. So at the end of the month you may SharkScope me and see if I have a $300 profit!

I don't know why, but I feel very comfy at Cake!

Giorgio

PS: Happy NY!

Update:

My CakePoker bankroll is exactly $63.89.

I was a bit unlucky in my last game yesterday when the big stack pushed all in, when I limped with pocket 8's from UTG. Since he had position, I had to lay them down, but that left me with a small stack because the blinds went up after that hand and I had to pay the BB + SB in the next two hands. With 6 to go I got AQ UTG, so I pushed my last 700 in but they didn't get any help...

So yesterday I had only a profit of $20 over the whole day, though these tourneys seem to be +EV for me and perfect practice for satellites.

I will keep y'all posted!

Still playing the double ups. Just had a winning streak of 6 games. In fact, I had 7 wins out of my last 8 games My CakePoker bankroll has now grown to $127.30.

Played: 41
Won: 29

Shall it end tonight?

My current SkarkScope status: Super Tilt

I have ended 6th a couple of times and experienced my first moments of variance. Also made some miserable calls to be honest...

Still 2 games open, so I might end up with about a little over $40 or go broke before ending my session.

Will update later,

G

Update: Won 1, Lost 1. Bankroll is now $26.90. Sad, but I really donked away a few games tonight. My last hand was AcQc, 9 players left and I had 700 chips left. Pushed, got a flush draw but it didn't improve. Was actually a huge pot, with KK, JJ, AK and my AQ all moving all-in. I am a too emotional player, specially when it moves fast like online... sigh.

Well... the "rail project" has ended tonight. I have played my final two games and again I happened to suck out in 7th and 6th position.

It made no sense, but bad hands kept winning and with 800/400 blinds + antes and 6 players left, even a stack 3K stacks disappears quickly without cards.

OK... it was fun while it lasted... but my bankroll wasn't supportive for playing $10+.80 SNG's anyway

I guess I got over enthusiastic and played a little too many tables at the same time. I also noticed that the games were tougher at night, instead of during the day.

I might try to double up my last $5 playing cash games and see if I can break my loosing streak at some point... though... not tonight!

OK, I have come to my senses and analyzed what has happened yesterday.

Everybody knows by now that I am the worst bankroll manager in the world... so we won't look at that aspect, because playing $10 SNGs with a bankroll of less than $100 is simply ridiculous.

The fact that I don't do bankroll management is that I only play online poker for fun. I just gave up after trying to play poker in the higher stakes up to $5/$10 and loosing significant amounts of cash in the past. I am just too emotional and even when I manage to build up a nice bankroll, I can easily loose it all in just a fraction of time after suffering a couple of suck outs. This is also the reason that I have self excluded myself from many poker rooms and decided to stick with a couple only. Even though I could sign-up everywhere, I am man enough to keep a promise to myself.

Anyway, until very recently I was solely playing multi table tournaments on Party Poker. When I discovered I had 13 bucks left in my CakePoker account I played a double-up tourney and found out that I could easily handle playing that level. I grew my bankroll up to almost $130 before getting in a horrible downswing.

Coming to a conclusion, the following is what happened. I got over excited and instead of staying with the plan to earn $10 per day, thus $300 in a month, I started playing many more games. Instead of playing a maximum of 3 tables at the time (where I feel pretty comfortable with) I was playing 4 tables yesterday evening.

So at one point last night the winning stopped after having a 6 game streak earlier. I lost one, won one... but then lost like 10 in a row. It seemed that I couldn't make any good decisions, for instance I called all-in moves with AK raising pre-flop, where it was obvious the other could only have a premium hand... that kind of stuff.

A little bit of bad luck got me out of my concentration, I played worse hands (KQ off-suit) than I did when I was winning and basically I was playing the final SNGs with fear of loosing - even though I could care less about the money, I felt miserable because I failed my test.

Now, I have $5.30 left, which I decided not to donk away just like that. I am giving myself a new test and that is to get to my goal of $300. Yes, you read that right! I will get myself together and play my very best poker game, which I know I am very capable to do! I will have to step away when loosing (which I should have done yesterday) and a bankroll of a little over five bucks is not much, but I would not say I have no chance.

So, this thread ain't dead just yet!

See all of ya railers soon,

Giorgio a.k.a PokerForFree

Default Good luck or not?

Hey G,

I was thinking of wishing you good luck but then I realized that luck is just a little factor of your ROI. So I don't have to wish you good luck, just play good, every mistake is EV-, so don't make mistakes. I played a lot of DON (double or nothings) @ pokerstars and found out that bluffing was deadly on the long run.

I will follow your progression!

Hey buddy,

I have picked up my game with confidence and am back in the winning mood. I have played a total of 6 games and ended ITM 5 times. The other day, I tilted and played my Z game, I can now proudly say that I am back playing my A game, folding almost everything to a raise out of position. I think the real key to these games (and basically to all games of poker) is position!

Cheers,

Giorgio

PS: Wanna go skating Saturday morning? I have a game in the afternoon, so I am only available in the morning... LMK
