Edit: sorry, realised I just read the first page and I am replying to a post of Feb. Oh well...

Hi Rob, I must say, I see those strange hands as well. However, in your hand I probably would have gone all-in after the flop. This way you can chase people out with a straight draw and maybe even two pairs because of the clear straight opportunities. On a made straight hand you loose anyway. But then again, I am also not the best poker player, so who knows what the best play was!
But I do recognize the bad beats and the pots where everyone seems to have hit something but no-one the nuts. But I also must say I play a lot more online than real life (which I hardly ever do anymore these days) so I guess I can't really compare. But the frustration is just the same! :-)

Hi Gonnie,

I play a lot live poker and have to say that I have seen the craziest hands, beating solid hands.

It happens online and it happens live, the difference is that when you play online (and sometimes on 4 or so tables at once) you get to play loads more hands than live - and thus you will see more amazing things happen.

My brother in law played on the bubble for at least 1000 Euro a little while ago and got eliminated by a one outer.

No matter what, the odds will always be in your favor over the long haul. Nothing's going to change that... luckily.

Last night I was playing on bwin (which is my homebase lately) and saw the craziest things. For a couple of days I could not loose, but yesterday I was beaten for a big pot 3 times during 1 hour with a full house over my straight, all 3 times I've bet big on the turn and got called to be sucked out on the river

If things like these happen, then it's allways better to take a break (which I should have done LOL).

Fortunately, I only play 15c/30c NL shorthanded so the damage wasn't too bad.

If you ever wanna see me playing, send me a PM and I will let you know my screen name.

Cheers,

Giorgio

PS: Is there still going to be a second part of your PokerStrategy blog?

Since I haven't been playing much poker lately, I must say I am less inspired for a blog. It looks like I might have some more time on my hands (deeltijd-ww - a measure by the Dutch government to allow employees partly in unemployment, temporarily, to help companies avoid laying off people) so I might give it a go then.
