Default Whos Playin Tnite??

Bit quiet on here so thought i would just post food for thought..
I personally had a terrible week of poker last week, with the most amazing run of badbeats that seem to occure immediately after i threw a game to give a mate a ticket he could use...
LOL, i know this is most certainly not the cause of my bad luck, but definately could have been a subconcious change of mindset leading to making the right calls at the wrong time..
What ever, i do know this.....
1, i wont be doin it again...
2, ive neva had two bad weeks in sucession so watch out this week.. lol

regards Sean..

Instead of running bad, I am running quite OK lately. As you know I am playing only low stakes lately and only MTT's.

Last week I won a $11 R&A and this afternoon I finished 7th in a $11 Freeze Out. With double the average stack I had to run to pick up our son from the kindergarten, so I called my brother in law and he played for me (for about 1 hour). There were 54 players left when I left and I started playing again with 16 players left and a stack of $40K (average was about $80K).

With $30K left, I got AK and pushed all-in from middle position. Everybody folded and I was back at $42K picking up the blinds. The next hand I got Pocket Aces and managed to triple-up.

From that moment I grinded until there were 7 players left, when I got A8 off suit in MP. I had about $30K and pushed all in against the chip leader, who instantly called with pocket 9's. Well... I flopped an Ace and he flopped trips... surprisingly The turn brought an 8, but the river a blank, so I was out and got $136 out of it.

I guess I shouldn't complain with a ROI over 100%, so I wont. I am actually quite happy that I am able to play consistently well at this level.

So Sean, I have experienced very dark times poker wise, but trust me..... the sun will shine again. It's just what you play and bankroll management might not seem that important, but loosing a couple of bucks being able to play again feels MUCH better than loosing a significant amount and having to re-deposit!

Cheers,

Giorgio

Hi Guys
is this the same Giorgio who told me not 24 hours ago that AQ is not as good as it looks....lol And then u push all in with A8. I understand what you are saying though that you were a lot further into you tourney than i was ( i know i am daft)
I was saying to sean yesterday on Titan that i am totally skint at the moment so just playin in a couple of freerolls and the like (PFF Titan games) just to keep my eye in...lol

It wont last forvever though and i will be making small deposits to play in the added leaderboards as i am going to win it this time

Hi Rob,

Have you ever heard of the M-concept? Well, with an M lower than 3 it's ATC when you are to act if nobody has opened the pot, so A8 is absolutely a superb hand. For your information, this was with 7 players left and I was the short stack with just 3 players behind me to act. In fact, my effective M was a lot lower than 3, as the table had less than 10 players left...

But... looking at your comments to my post I don't think you have a clue what I am talking about So, here's a short explanation.

The M is calculated as followed:

((Small Blind + Big Blind + Antes) / Your Stack)

In this case 6000 + 12000 + 400 (let's say 400, because I don't exactly remember the Ante amount). That makes a total of 18400. So having an M of nothing (my stack was about 30K), it's double or nothing if you want to have a shot at getting any further in the tournament. Remember, you can only last 2 orbits, so you can't wait for any good starting hand. If you can go all-in before anyone else has acted, then any two cards are good, preferably having an Ace or a King to have at least the option to win with a high card.

I hope you understand this concept. I'll be happy to explain it in details on MSN if you wish... but trust me... going all-in in this situation can't be compared at all to your "calling with AQ" in the middle stages of a tournament.

G

g
as from my post it was said in jest and i did understand the rationale of your call as opposed to mine. Even so, thanks for the explanation as it is another weapon in my already formidable armoury

Listen buddy, i now have all the tools in the toolbox to dismantle anyones game!!!!! I even got through the omaha tourney i entered withe ticket i won last night. 11pm i play for a place in the 150k ECOOP #11
Also sean, if raefsdje (or whatever his name is) had ever read anything on the forum or members zone he would maybe have a chance of beating us but he gets so wound up when i beat him every night!!! I think he is one of those freerollers we have debated so much about. As you stated luck over skill anytime...i think not
see u later guys
